COMMISSIONS

In order for the Parliament to make decisions on such a wide variety of topics and carry on with its job, the deputies are divided among committees; each of them specialized in a single matter. The committees can be permanent or temporary and they consider and amend the legislative proposals of the European Commission and start the negotiations on these with the EU ministers. Moreover, they also draft resolutions on topical matters.

ENVI

COMMITTEE ON THE ENVIRONMENT, PUBLIC HEALTH AND FOOD SAFETY (ENVI)

The ENVI committee works towards a sustainable European development, in respect of the environment and against climate change. During the current mandate, the mail goal is to create the European Green Deal, a new strategy for the development of the EU as a modern economy, efficient for what concerns the resources and competitive. According to this new vision, the economic growth has to be dissociated from the use of resources, without leaving behind no one. The final goal is the achievement of the carbon emissions neutrality by 2050 in Europe. To stay up to date with every step of the way check here.

TRAN

COMMITTEE ON TRANSPORT AND TOURISM (TRAIN)

The committee works in two important fields, transports and tourism, which will face important challenges in order for the sectors to become more efficient and sustainable. It is fundamental that the European Community helps the transformation trough safe and effective legislations and funding, in order to maximize the development but always protecting the environment. It is important to keep in mind that this “green” and technological revolution is crucial for the EU to achieve the goals set in the Paris Agreement. The group fights for the rights of women and of the LGBTIQ community and it is faced with many concerns from the gender pay gap, to the violence against women, to the respect for sexual and reproductive health rights. The goal is for every citizen of the EU to be able to receive the best prevention and treatment possible and to set the priorities to be brought forward in the fight against cancer.
