In order for the Parliament to make decisions on such a wide variety of topics and carry on with its job, the deputies are divided among committees; each of them specialized in a single matter. The committees can be permanent or temporary and they consider and amend the legislative proposals of the European Commission and start the negotiations on these with the EU ministers. Moreover, they also draft resolutions on topical matters.
COMMITTEE ON THE ENVIRONMENT, PUBLIC HEALTH AND FOOD SAFETY (ENVI)
The ENVI committee works towards a sustainable European development, in respect of the environment and against climate change. During the current mandate, the mail goal is to create the European Green Deal, a new strategy for the development of the EU as a modern economy, efficient for what concerns the resources and competitive. According to this new vision, the economic growth has to be dissociated from the use of resources, without leaving behind no one. The final goal is the achievement of the carbon emissions neutrality by 2050 in Europe. To stay up to date with every step of the way check here.
THE COMMITTEE ON FOREIGN AFFAIRS OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT (AFET)
